Round 2: Salad
Prompt Detail
Here are the seating arrangements for reference.
Welcome, Guests, to ROUND 2.
Please read the Round 2 Introductory comic before reading further.
Maiden has created dishes ‘inspired’ by the losing competitors. Lady Caris challenges the remaining competitors to an eating competition– consum(e)mate your victory faster than your opponent.
The bodies of the losers of the previous round have been rendered into food. They are dead. Their ghosts may wander the House, but can never leave.
RULES:
- Guests cannot kill the House NPCs, Host, or mascot.
- PLEASE communicate with your opponent. Don’t just give answers without asking questions, and vice versa.
CONDITIONS FOR DEFEATING YOUR OPPONENT
- Eat the meal. Commit willful cannibalism. Retain all senses, and gain an ability unique to the person eaten. This ability may be directly inherited, or inspired by the character’s profession, ambitions, obsessions, or any other thematic motif considerations.
- Refuse the meal, but provide your opponent as an offering — you will have to subdue your opponent yourself, whether by force, or by some other method of compulsion.
- Refuse the meal, but sacrifice one of your senses. In exchange, you will be offered a special ability in the next round, determined by the Host.
What will you do to prevent your opponent from reacting first?
CONSEQUENCES
If characters refuse to eat or participate, they will be killed by the House staff. The House will devour them, and their ghosts will remain trapped inside the House.
Chronology
This scene begins in the Dining Hall shortly after guests return from their labours in Round 1. Once everyone is seated at the table, Lady Caris will deliver the demands of the next puzzle. Bon appétit!
Bonus Objectives
Caris’ late husband, Lord Hector of Dominia, disappeared under mysterious circumstances and was declared dead, thereby giving all rights of his properties and possessions to his widow. His apparition has been seen trying to escape the House. His jaw has been removed, so he cannot speak. Find his missing jaw somewhere in the House, and he will tell his tale in Round 3.
Addressing this bonus objective is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, though inclusion will earn one bonus point towards your final round evaluation. The story can continue without addressing this event.

DUE DATE
You all have THREE MONTHS (and a bit) to complete your entries, with the official start date on September 25th, 2024. Because December is a stressful month on top of New Years, the deadline for submission will be pushed to January 15th, 2025.
