Welcome, Guests, to ROUND 1.

Please read the Round 1 Introductory comic before reading further.

     The first round will ask players to solve a given riddle.

Characters must present the answer in physical format at the end of their round; they can’t just answer the riddle, they must obtain the item in question. In order to obtain the item, they must take it from their opponent, or provide it themselves. If they wish to obtain it from an apparition or from the House, they must pay a price for it—this cost may be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. 

 

The Guests must obtain the object, or
become the object themselves. 

 

RULES: 

1. Guests cannot kill the House NPCs, Host, or mascot. 
2. Guests may obtain the item from apparitions of their past, but this must be satisfyingly portrayed, ie. No easy cop-outs. 
3. In order to do so, characters must pay a price to obtain the item in this manner, whether it is a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual cost. For example, they must overcome some personal hangup or mental/emotional/spiritual obstacle, make peace (or war) with a figure from their past, or come to terms with some horrifying aspect of themselves. 
4. It is heavily implied that the Guests must kill one another to get the object they seek. 
5. Guests may sacrifice something of their own if they cannot or will not kill their opponent to obtain it. 
6. PLEASE communicate with your opponent. Don’t just give answers without asking questions, and vice versa.

CONDITIONS FOR DEFEATING YOUR OPPONENT

     Present the answer to your given riddle in its physical form to either Caris, Maiden, or Lavender, BEFORE your opponent does. For example, if the answer is ‘apple’, then you must present an actual apple.

 

CONSEQUENCES

     If characters fail, they will die. The House will devour them, and their ghosts will remain trapped inside the House.

 

Chronology

This scene begins in the Dining Hall shortly after guests are seated at the table. Dinner will not begin until the game has been played to completion — so Guests could ostensibly take days to complete their quest before food is even on the table! Guests will be allowed to wander the House as needed.

 

DUE DATE

You all have THREE MONTHS to complete your entries, with the official start date on April 25th, 2024. The deadline for submission is July 25th, 2024.
